Toilet gasket mixing?

I have an eljer and am replacing the tank to bowl gasket and bolts. apparently the gasket is the type with ears. http://www.plumbingsupply.com/images...95-5702-00.jpg

wondering however if I can use another type since i already have it. it's this kind.

Those ears are to help set the bowl level and to also avoid over tighting the bolts.
Just be carefull and tighten the nuts equaly and it should work.

Toilet gasket mixing?

I've run across some toilets, mostly Kohler, that take a specific close couple gasket for the tank to bowl connection. The port on the bowl being just slightly larger than a korky or fluidmaster gasket. I'm not saying what you have won't work on your Eljer, but just be aware....
