I am trying to install my new toilet on my newly installed tile floor. I bought a plastic flange extention from the home store. Do I take out the old flange and screw the 2 together to the floor? Do I need to put a rubber gasket between the 2 flanges? How far above the tile floor should the flange be?
Anything else I should know about installation before I begin? I am a beginner so I need simple details. Many thanks
The height of the flange, when installed, should be at or just above floor level. The flange extender should be sealed between the old flange and extender. Some come with a sealant already on them, some, you need to use something like silicone sealer. The extender should be screwed down to the floor using the holes in the extender and the original flange. You do not need to remove the existing flange to do the installation.
If you have never made a mistake, you haven't done much.
