Tile-ready shower pan
Has anyone used a preformed tile-ready shower pan instead of membrane/mortar? They look easier but I fear they may be too good to be true.

Tile-ready shower pan
Lawyer,
I used one on a job last year. It worked well as long as you follow the directions. They come with an epoxy thinset for setting the tiles to the base. The base is a pretty smooth plastic. The epoxy t/s works well for this. The only thing I would do different next time is to notch the studs just a tad where the base butts up to keep everything in line. They are kind of pricey for what they are. It looks like it should cost a fraction of what they charge. Also, the accessory pieces are way overpriced. Namely the Z-flashing they sell and the square drain cover. Mike Hawkins
