three piece bathtub replacement units

I am in the process of replacing a one piece fibreglass bathtub unit with a three piece replacement unit. I am concerned that with time, mildew/mold will form where these joints are located. Does anyone have any experience with this and is the mold and mildew a concern at all??? There is at least a three inch overlap where these units join. Any info. on this matter would be appreciated.

They usually come with butyl rubber and seals out all moisture.

I may go home hungry, but not tired and hungry.
