Terminating a drain in the floor

I have removed a jacuzzi that was outside of the bathroom footprint. The drain is running horizontally through a 2x10 joist bay. The termination point sits approx. 2 inches from the top of the joist. I am unable to put a 90 on it and cap it. Can I install a fernco cap on horizontal run or should I reinstall a ptrap and then Fernco it. Or none of the above. There will be a finished floor above the drain. Thanks

Terminating a drain in the floor

A picture would be nice---but with very little info---if the pipe is PVC---cut it and glue on a cap-

Save the frencos for a time when a proper cap can not be used--

Type of pipe would help---

Mike has the right idea: a PVC glue cap. Prime glue and forget. I would suggest cutting out the p trap then capping the line, instead of leaving the trap and capping it's fixture side.
