This is insane. Just Fix it. Rector seal is good stuff. Forget teflon tape

Let me understand this better.
Do you mean just buying Teflon tape and just wrapping it around the outside of the valve to stop the leak until the Plumber arrives? Or do you mean take it apart and wrap it and replace it until the Plumber arrives?

#1 Call Plumber . #2 pipe dope.

Only certain teflon tape is approved to be used on gas lines. Regular teflon tape used for general plumbing is not approved.

1. Turn off gas main.
2. Call Licensed Plumber.
3. Re-Light Pilots.

If you ask a question like this, you are not capable of resolving the problem.

No Insult intended. Gas can be explosive.

tempoarly taping a gas vavle ?

About a year ago I was removing a gas service to a house so it could be demolished. When I went to remove the meter, I found it wrapped in towels and plastic bags with an upside-down bucket over everything. Once I removed the bags, towels and bucket, I realized that there was a leak on the set. This must have been the resident's attempt at fixing the leak.
