Teflon Tape how much?

I'm redoing the plumbing on my pool pump. It's 1 1/2" to 2" PVC. There are 4 threaded male connectors that go into the pump and filter. I plan on using Teflon Tape. Just wondering how much I should use. How many layers?

Or three or four is what I use.
Fix it right the first time, so you won't have to fix it a 2nd time.

I think 3 is good number. It's what I use unless the fit is sloppy.

It depends on the width of the teflon tape you are using. If you start at the second starting thread you want at least one full wrap all the way around that covers all the rest of the threads. On an inch and a half pvc male adapter that could be two wraps of 3/4" wide tape or three to four wraps of 1/2" tape.

I think that teflon tape is better than pipe compound on PVC threads.
I usually wrap a minimum of 3 flat wraps of 1/2" tape on that size.
Wrap the tape clockwise only on the male threads as the threaded ends face you.
Good Luck!
