Tapping into main water line

I want to put water to my detached garage by tapping into the water line going to my house, right after my submersible pump. I'm thinking I can just put a T in the line and be able to use my pressure tank in the house for the garage. I guess I'll need to take the check valve out from before the pressure tank. I think I would need to put in between the pump and the T. Does this sound right?

Ideally, you should tap off after the pressure tank, otherwise you will need another pressure tank in the garage. Bury the lines below frost line, and i assume the garage is heated???? If not, make provisions for being able to drain the line.

racinpig, you may want to check with the city/county in which you live regarding water to a detached building. We were planning to build my mother-in-law a detached unit in the backyard. I live in Contract Costa county in California, and they REQUIRE the installation of a separate meter AND a "Facility Reserve Charge", the sum total of which is $22,500!

Not exactly the same thing, but I tapped into my water supply line to install a yard hydrant. It's about 20 feet from the house. I did not need a second pressure tank anywhere.

You will have to do something about the check valve. Since at the time I didn't yet have my plumbing final inspection, I couldn't remove it. So I took the guts out of it instead. That was four years ago and it's still that way. And I didn't have to add a check valve anywhere else.
