Tap into existing pipe?

I want to put in a utility sink in my basement, my question is do I need to run pipe from the main water coming into the house, or can I cut and tie into the copper pipe that supplies another sink that is about 10 feet away? Will I be robbed of pressure? I will not be using the (1st) sink at the same time that I am using the new sink probably ever. Thanks for any replies.

You should be fine tapping into the nearest water lines.
