Tank to Tank-less Hot Water

There are new high efficiency tank water heaters I keep reading will be appearing at your local big box stores this year. They extract more usable heat than a conventional tanks by circulating exhaust and other smarts. By virtue of similarity should be a relatively easy swap out for those of us with tanks. So far I've only seen them on tv and in magazines but I've been out of the market for a heater since replacing mine... Maybe they are at your big box stores.
