Tank bolts dripping!

Old bolts on the toilet were rusted out so i replaced with brass. Cleaned tank very throughly and tighened new bolts fairly hard to the point where if i turn it a little more i break tank? Any suggestions, thicker washers, thinner, bigger smaller??? I dunno. Thru-bolt holes on tank are no chipped from removal of old one. What else can i do?

Tank bolts dripping!

remove the bolts and use a little sandcloth on the bolt holes. Use a little pipe dope on the washers when reinstalling. works for me all the time

Inside the tank, where it matters, use just the rubber washers on the tank bolts, and throw the metal ones away. I always hand tighten them as much as possible.
