Symmons shower system

Hello, not a plumber here J
I have a question:
We have a Symmons (old) system in the shower with the Moen-like cold/hot knob, basically you turn the knob counter-clockwise to get the desired temperature. Recently, despite turning the knob waaaay past hot, I am still getting cold water. The more the knob is turned towards hot, the slower the water pressure is. Finally, the warm water starts to ‘trickle’, but only when the knob is turned almost 360 degrees.
Do you folks know what happened and how to fix this?
Thanks

Symmons shower system

I bet your pressure balancing spool is hung up.
Turn off your water, disassemble the trim package, and remove the cartridge. Soak it in vinegar for a couple of hours, grease it up with faucet grease, and re-assemble.
