Switching to a fluidmaster fill valve inside an old briggs tank.

Will a Fluidmaster 400A toilet tank fill valve fit inside a briggs 4920 tank?
It says fits most tanks, if it doesn't which one would fit?
I need to replace the old fill valve with ballcock, thanks.

I've never even heard of a Briggs tank.
It's a $10.00 part, if it does not fit bring it back.

As long as you have around 14" of height inside of tank it should fit

Inside the tank it has 2 sets of numbers. 4920, 4930.
Date of manufacture 07/94. This is a discontinued model.

I bought one of those replacement kits at a hardware store
and I think the fill valve is not compatible with the tank.

It leaks from under the nut even after making sure it was on tight.
As you can see on pic#2 there is a gap.

Did you install the rubber washer inside?

Yes, if you are referring to that black rubber gasket on the fill valve.

The rubber washer inside the tank does the actual sealing, the nut just puts pressure on it.
Can you move the fill valve side to side when you push/pull top of it?
