sump pump problems

My sump pump back up alarm has been going off for about 2 hours now and the pump keeps turning on with extremely low water levels in the pit. It is making a gargling noise. not quite sure what is going on. The back up system is telling me to check the main pump....I have no idea where that bad boy is. Can anyone help?

sump pump problems

Are the floats and linkages that turn the pump on and off out of adjustment or bent?

Stop wasting time re-adjusting the pattern. Have several lawn sprinklers, one for each pattern.

THe main sump pump is likely near the backup one. Look for 11/2" diameter white or black plastic pipes coming out of a black plastic round cover from your basement floor. These will usually point you to the pump's location.
