sump pump: Backup battery charge case. does it work?
I have a backup sump pump. It uses a Wayne 12-volt battery backup case with Solid State Controls.
Replaced battery a couple of years ago (deep cycle)....
back up pump isn't coming on..... but I really don't think the actual pump is bad.
getting ready to test battery,
BUT none of the lights on the front of my Backup Case are lit. Both "System Ready" and "Battery Low" lights are totally dark, even though charger is plugged into the wall.
I've managed to get the alarm to go off once.... but that's it...
is it possible for the batter case to be bad in some manner?
Does the solid state controls (board?) have a fuse? May have blown.
Advise battery condition after testing.
I don't know about a fuse..... not sure how/where to find it... doesn't look like there's a place to open up that panellll
but I can say I checked the battery and it is almost completely discharged........ only showed 2.5 volts on volt meter....... hopefully it is only a battery problem...... not a charger problem....
What is the battery voltage with nothing at all connected to it?
What is the charger voltage when it is not connected to the battery>
What is the charger voltage when it is connected to the battery (and nothing else is connected to the battery and turned on)?
