sump pit


just bought a new home, first one to have a sump pump in it. there is water in the sump pit and we have had very little rain lately. is that normal?

how much water ...and yes it could be normal...more information needed

The water table at that spot might be at that level during dry weather conditions.

The water table would be expected to be higher under wet conditions hence the need for the sump pump.
