Sump drain ?

I've set up crawl space drain to run out side of house. What or how should I deal with water that is being drained?

We are in Washington state, I have it running down hill.
I thought of draining the sump water into the septic system, not sure?
Could drain into a buried five gallon can with rocks in it?

Sump drain ?

Get the water away from the house.

If you can put a drain opening at the bottom of the pit (sump) and unlimited amounts of water water will exit there and not back up then so much the better. Otherwise you will need a sump pump.

Do not drain into the septic system.

A 5 gallon dry well away from the house and filled with rocks is not sufficient because it will overflow in no time since the amount of space for water is much less than 5 gallons. Ever notice that when you buy a soft drink with a lot of ice in it you don't get much drink?

Psst! In order for water to flow by gravity out of a drain in the pit to daylight, the ground surface must slope down away from the house at a greater slope.
