Stuck Gerber Tub Spout - How to remove?

Hi All,

I am in the process of rebuilding a vintage early 80s Gerber Tub / Shower valve. I have successfully replaced the valve stems and would like to replace the tub spout as well. The water here in Florida is extremely hard and the spout is stuck. There is calcification on the spout as well as inside.

1. Is the spout a screw on - I believe it is.

2. I have tried twisting it off to no avail. Is there any way of loosening it? What about heating the end of the spout (where i suspect the threads are) to loosen?

3. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Look on the bootom side near the wall fist. Is there a hole there? If so there's a set screw that needs to be back off before removing.

Stuck Gerber Tub Spout - How to remove?

Thanks all for the replies, this one due to our extremely hard water here in FL was really stuck, getting a bigger hammer was tried but didn't want to twist the outlet pipe in the faucet. I tried CLR - no help, tried Liquid Wrench no help, then I heated the area on the spout where the thread was and then viola it came. Thanks all for the replies!
