steam heat radiator

Daniel52 Newbie   Join Date: Sep 2009 Posts: 3	steam heat radiator I want to change the valve on the side of my old radiators. Should I do it when there is no heat going thru, like the summer time? Does it matter? Thanks

adpanko Remodeler     Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: Central NJ Posts: 215	steam heat radiator you most definitely do NOT want to do it while the the boiler is active and steam is moving through the system; so turn it off. As for whether you do it in summer or winter, it is up to you. I'd rather do it in summer when you don't need heat, and therefore aren't under the gun to get the thing changed quickly.
