standup shower leaking after plunging

Is plunging a shower a proper thing to do?. I have a stand up shower(older tile/cement base) that was draining slow, so clr was poured down and a plunger was used, now whenever the shower is used, after a minute or so the water starts leaking from the shower base all over the floor. I can't think of anything else it being besides the seal from the drain through the floor pan has busted or come lease, any ideas?
