squeeking shower faucet handle? what does that mean?

What does it mean if when adjusting/turning shower faucet handle while it's running water, it squeeks a bit? No squeek when turn on or off, just squeek when adjusting it while water running. This is for the hot water faucet handle of shower. I did recently replace the faucet handle knob as the old one wasn't very good to use, but the rest of the faucet parts are unchanged except for a replacement washer. No issue at cold water faucet handle, they both use the same handle knobs.
