solder won't stick to copper pipe

This isn't a question I need an answer for.
This is a post so the next guy who goes online looking for an answer might find a solution.

Every post and tutorial on the subject tells the questioner that they probably didn't clean the pieces well enough or use enough flux or it was too hot or it was too cold or there is water in the line or you need to use a different gas or...etc.

Nobody mentions the Flux can separate in the container and you may need to re-mix it.

Hope that helps somebody out...because I just about went mad trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.

Good luck

there is also good flux and crappy flux. the water soluble lennox stuff they sell at lowes is complete junk. it has a lower burn off temp and gives you no room for error. get the pipe just a little bit too hot and the flux is gone.

Another one to add to the list of things that might be wrong.

Spending the extra couple of bucks to get the good stuff is always good advice.

A hard lesson I had to learn...now if I can just figure out how to justify to my wife the reasoning behind getting rid of the Toyota Matrix and upgrading to a Ferrari.

That wouldn't be an issue in my house.........

The issue would be getting my wife out of the driver's seat.....
