so i got my water pressure problem fixed and it was repaired with compressions fittings which i was advised to replace.

i have to replace a 14" long section with copper pipe which will include a shut off valve.

being that i have options at this point, should i favor trying to get threaded connections or solder connections? i realize i'll need at least one solder connection.

just curious if one is better then the other (its 1" copper pipe if that makes any difference).

Base on my experience soldering is for sure less problematic and I can see it won't change over time whereas threaded connection is more tricky to install and over time worries leak more....


on the other hand, in some situation, it may be more difficult to insert soldering parts due to tight fitting... but even that, I will still go for soldering... especially once you done everything... it is more likely you have a leak in threaded connections and it will be a nightmare to correct it... but in soldering, as long as you do enough solders etc... leak is very rare...

Solder. When you turn the water on after doing a soldered joint, if it isn't leaking, it won't leak later. Not the same with threaded joints.
