Soft water loop

Brand new house, have soft water loop; but my superintendent said do some research before buying the soft water unit because sometimes the salt can do some damage;

Any opinions on this, or recommendations on what kind of unit to buy (a particular brand) or a water filtration system vs. soft water?

Always get a water analysis before buying anything. What does the superintendent mean by causing "damage"? Are you the homeowner?

Yes, I am the home owner of a new house. He said some times the water can be "too soft" with a water softener and may cause salt build up. Don't know if that is true, we have had a LOT of problems with this builder and don't necessarily believe everything they tell me.
