Soft-close toilet seats

Any ideas on how to tighten the tension so that seat closes more slowly. Ours worked great, but lately it's losing it's grip. It only has tension on the last few inches of downward travel. BTW, it's a TOTO seat. :confused1:

The one I have isn't adjustable (AFAIK), but then again it isn't a toto

by the way...a little off topic here...

Do you find yourself closing lids elsewhere as if it were a softclose and then.....

SLAM  "oh sh!+....oops.....SORRYYYYYY"

YES!!! I love soft-close seats, but you do get a little too used to them... hahahahaha

As for adjusting them... they cost like nine dollars. Buy a new one. ;)

The Toto seats are well known for failing, sometimes quite quickly. There's a thread on another forum that explains how to add some kind of grease or thick fluid to the soft-close mechanism that could fix it, at least temporarily.

I bought a Toto seat for my Drake II and returned it. It was expensive, and I was not happy to see that it was made in China and the hinges were all floppy. I read about the failures and said no thanks.

I do the same thing...slamming toilet seats everywhere I go.

I have a six-year old boy. Replaced all the "nut crackers" in the house with soft close as soon as he learned to pee standing up. Cheap-o Beamis from HD and still going fine. Even now that he's out of the danger zone.
