Snaked Tree Roots - how long do I have?

The sad part is a good sized majority (maybe minority is the right word) of carpenters, plumbers, electricians, etc are just out for the $ and dont care about screwing people. Not trying to piss anyone off just saying that some, not all are this way. It gives the honest working person a bad name

Snaked Tree Roots - how long do I have?

When I get a call to trouble shoot my mind is thinking about the problem and a solution the cost and the $ I am going to make is the farthest thing from my mind.

What really bothered my over the years is people that want it fixed 1/2 Asxed or after it's fixed don't pay or give me real hard time about the bill.

I remain honest and but jaded to people now which means no brakes the price is the price.

Seems people have a hard time finding their checkbooks and pens when it's $ time. I have solved half of that problem by giving them a free pen with the Company information on it.

Not anymore semi retired.

I appreciate your honesty. I just had an honest plumber at my house to fix what another unhonest plumber didnt fix and charged me 1/3 the $ for twice the work. I really appreciate people like this

Snaked Tree Roots - how long do I have?

anyone ever hear of auguring a hole above where the roots go into the pipe, putting a 1' 1/2 pipe into the hole and filling it with copper sulfate. I guess killing the root so they can not get into the pipe.

My sewer pipe is fairly shallow. If you are going to do that why not chop the root and replace the pipe?

Not very hard to auger a inch an a half hole 8 feet down as opposed to digging to the pipe.

If it kills the roots, what does it do to the anaerobic bacteria in the tank?

I've never been fond of chemicals- never needed them. But some thread on here there is a discussion about Ridex and how to apply it from inside the house.

Rid-X is a food to jump start the bacteria, not a copper based poison. You add it to your tank to make sure the bugs are healthy.

i looked up roto-rooter on the net for my mil. they charged nearly $300 to rod the line, and said she needed a complete replacement. 3 weeks later it clogged again. i found a local guy that did it again, for $90. over a year now, no problems.
