Smelling waste gas?

I just installed new vanity and this is shai I did. Had ABS stub coming up from floor. I installed a shielded coupling to convert to PVC. I replymbed it using an AV the same way it was previously. This is a manufactured home. I seem to be smelling a faint sewage smell. I dunno if it's just me because it's faint but seems little stronger if I stick head under vanity.

Smelling waste gas?

Anyone? I am guessing it's coming from the connection. I see no leaks though. Should I loosen the pipes and reassemble?

make sure all your connections are good, but your A.V. may not be seated. what kind of A.V. did you use?

By not being seated what do you mean? I can unscrew it and check it out. No need to use tape or anything for the threads? I can't remember brand. Got it at lowes for like $6. I will post pics of configuration. How do I check the AV? Thx. Mike.

I've had nothing but problems with the cheap aav's. buy a studor vent, its around 25 bucks. if all other joints are tight and not leaking that's probably what you need

How can I check to see if it is seated or working properly? Do I need to put anything on threads and is there no such thing as too high of location? I got it where I can just thread it back out, I think lol.

you can suck on the threads (seriously, but clean it off first ) to see if its working. those kind of aav's will take air in, but not let it out. so you should get air by sucking, but not by blowing. Put pipe dope on the threads are get it hand tight

you will feel even dirtier if you dont follow the_mans advise!

it sounds like you have a v 200(these operate on mechanical parts), get the studor mini vent (no springs to go bad), studer recomendes using tef tape and not the dope. before installation be sure and hold it verticle do the suck and blow test to see assure yourself a seat.

I took it out and sucked and blew. Didn't hold it vertical but it worked the way its supposed to. I also tightened everything a lil more. We'll see how that works.

Still smell it. If I stick my nose by the drain from above in the sink I can't smell it. I can smell it strongly from under the vanity. Is it possible for it to be seeping out of the fernco?
