Smell from Plumber's Putty

I recently installed two new polished brass drains in my bathroom sinks. Now, everytime I run water in these sinks, I get a strong smell of plumber's putty (which is what I used when installing the drains). Is there anyway to get rid of this smell other than taking the drains apart and starting over ?

Exactly how long ago did you do the install? I do all my own plumbing and had a situation like yours and the smell eventually left after about 2 weeks. The only reason that there would be a smell would be that youhad some putty get inside the drain. if you dont want the smell lingering i suggest taking the pipe apart if possible and give them a good cleaning.

Smell from plumber's putty

Installed the drains approx. eight weeks ago. Will try disassembling the trap and see what I find.

Thanks

Problem Solved

Ran a snake and cleaning solution through the drain and trap - no more smell. Thanks
