Yeah, the stink is likely to be a lot more annoying. So err on the side of caution.

Plumber was called but.....

I called a plumber to fix my slow flush toilet. I literally tried everything but lifting the toilet.

He said the main line is not clogged because the tub would be backed up otherwise due to the lower height difference. He thought the rubber stopper was the issue but it was not.

The plumber gave me two suggestions, lift the toilet and snake out the pipe underneath. If no clog then to replace the toilet. Both was going to cost me more than what was originally quoted so I said no after being frustrated. At that point, the trust factor was gone. They went on their way without a diagnosis.

What to do now?

Replace the toilet? I have read that the Toto Drake II and the Kohler Cimarron (K-3609) are very good toilets.

Any suggestions? Thanks.
