Slow filling toilet cistern

I have recently completed the installation of a new bathroom suite, however the toilet cistern is filling very slowly. Can anybody suggest how this can be fixed

I would first make sure the water supply valve is opened fully. If so their may be something interfering the float from fully dropping or something similar causing the slow flow.

The two most likely possibilities are: You have fitted the high pressure restrictor and you have a low pressure system (cistern feed), or you failed to flush the pipe work out and have a bit of dirt clogging the float valve (some have a filter) orifice.

Slow filling cistern...

I have the same problem and have come to the conclusion that the cistern internals are of European design and therefore designed for higher pressure than the good old header tank... I'm told that stores like bathstore.com quite often supply these and forget to mention it when you order. I guess that there's no problem if the cistern is connected to mains supply but if it's connected to the header tank and there's just a couple of metres of pressure (as with most upstairs loo's) then it will just fill slowly...
