Slight sewer smell in kitchen

This morning I woke up to find that when I got up and got a drink of water last night I didn't completely turn off the faucet so it was running very slowly almost all night. I also noticed that along with this came a very faint sewer smell. So faint that my wife can't even smell it. The trap appears to be holding water and I checked the basement and there seems to be no leaks in the drain pipe. No other fixtures smell, nothing in the bathroom or laundry room which are the only other rooms with plumbing. What could be causing this? Is it due to having the water run all night? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It could be as simple as scum build up in the tailpiece or disposal. The water running maybe just a coincidence. Do you have an auto vent at the trap? It may be stuck open. Do you see any moisture where the pipe exits the floor/ceiling in the basement? Possible cracked pipe. just some thoughts. These can be very hard to pinpoint

Many times odors are mistaken for sewer smells. As TheEplumber mentioned it's most likely just grime built up in the trap, disposal, trap arm, or a dishwasher tailpiece? If you have a disposal run a cup of ice through it with some type of citrus cleaner or lemon juice.

You may also want to try drawing a glass of water and smell it. If it smells like sulphur (rotten eggs or a geyser). It's most likely a bad magnesium anode rod in your water heater. Which would need to be replaced with stainless steel, aluminum, or zinc.
