size of hot water heater
 

Another expense in my not so distant future will be a new hot water heater as the home inspector said it's 10 years old and the average age is 8-12.

This is a 2 bathroom home with one occupant. (me). Is there an average size? Do I need to go with the 40 gallon size that's currently installed?

My daughter, with whom I'm currently staying, has a 2 bathroom home and she has a 30 gallon tank. With 2 of us here now we haven't run short of hot water.

She has a Rheem. Are there any brands (without violating posting rules) that could be recommended or that I should avoid.

Are you looking at gas or electric for the Water Heater? Gas has a faster recovery.

as far as I know gas is not available in this area.
