Sink Drain Install

I know this is probably a dumb question but I just want to confirm i'm going to go about this the right way.

I am installing a sink drain and the plumbing from the vertical drain and p-trap to the wall pipe dont exactly match. Picture illustrates what I mean. Is it as simple of just extending the vertical pipe from the drain to get it to line up?

It would seem like that to me, but Just wanted to make sure there isnt a "problem" or "issue" with that. Again sorry if this seems trivial.

Sink Drain Install

It should work by getting a longer piece.

They also sell tail piece extentions. It will be 1-1/4 for a bathroom sink and female with a nut and tapered gasket on one end and male 1-1/4 on the other.
