Silicone Caulk

What are your thoughts on using a silicone caulk to set a bath tub drain as opposed to using plumber's putty? Also what do you think of the American Standard "Americast" tubs?

Silicone Caulk

It can be used, but makes removal a bit harder if it is needed. Americast has had problems in the past with the surface chipping and cracking. It has probably been solved. I still prefer real cast iron for tubs due the the stability and heat retention.

If you have never made a mistake, you haven't done much.
