Any ideas on how to use the existing shower drain when I install a tub instead? I'm installing a Left Handed tub on a poured concrete/stone floor, so I don't really have the option of ripping up the floor to make the exit/drain pipe fit the new tub.
Is there a way to connect the water drain and overflow drain to the existing shower drain? The shower drain is an open hole with a diameter of 4.5".
Since the floor is concrete/stone can a fiberglass tub rest directly on the floor, or is it preferable to pour some mortar so it rests on a more stable fitted base? Also, do you think the added high might be necessary to get from the tub/overflow drain to the existing drain? How can I then connect that to the obviously much larger 4.5" diameter existing drain hole?
Do I need to build a frame for the tub, or can a tub with an apron be sufficient? Also, if I can't get a tub with an apron where I am, is there something else I can use instead of tile work or water-resistant dry-wall?
Any suggestions, tips, or recommendations, specific to the question, or general advice would be very appreciated.
