Shower/Tub Diverter

Hi there,

Have the problem of the diverter still letting water flow at a very good rate out of the spout when the shower is on. Shower head also does not have full pressure

Figured it would be the diverter - so I just want to replace the thing.

Here is how the handle is setup...

Then this is what I am left with after I remove all of it...

Now, am I just able to loosen the stem valve with a stem wrench or pipe wrench..??

Never done diverters on a 3 handle setup - am I approaching it the right way?

Thanks!

Use a cresent wrench on the nut. That will back out the stem. At that point you can decide if you want to rebuild it or take the whole thing to the store and match it up to a replacement.

You should also replace the seat.

Hi,

OK - so I can just take a crescent wrench to this nut?

I've watch a few videos on this on youtube, but none of the videos seem to match the same faucet hardware that I have.

...and which part is the seat?

Thank u!

Yes, use a crescent wrench or one like the picture shows.
The seat is inside the valve body itself. The bib washer on the stem seats against it, thus its called a seat :) It may be scratch and need re placement- requires a seat wrench.
It's the furthest left (unlabeled) arrow in this image.

Looks like it needs replaced.

Also I snapped a pic of my seat...

Does that look like it needs to be replaced as well? Might as well get it done while I'm there.

Is there a good way to give that a clean up?

Thanks for all the advice guys!

Hi guys,

didn't do too much with this because of the holiday, but I finally got around to it.

Grabbed one of these kits from home depot..
