Hello all, 1st post! :thumbsup:
I ripped out my old shower, but kept the supply lines intact 1' off the floor. The stud wall is 2x4. I've finished up roughing in the new valve and shower head riser, but have come to realize a problem. The new valve is a lot thicker than the previous and sticks out into the shower 1-3/4" (The blocking behind is 1/4" off the back wall, plus the 2x4). They ran the supply lines really close to the shower-side of the bottom plate, unfortunately, so I'm kind of stuck as to the distance. I'm considering using a combination of 45-straight-45 fittings to bring the supply lines further into the stud bay. Opinions? Thoughts? Thanks!!
You're right. Offset the pipes as needed to fit the valve to the finished wall
You will have to change the block as well- perhaps a 1x? Will work
Awesome, thanks. I'd put an elbow in to make it easy, but it needs to come in further than that. I'd planned on pulling the blocking already and conveniently have a 1x in the basement just itching to get used.
One more question, the shower head coupling currently would sit flush with the stud face...Since I'm pulling the whole valve assembly in, how far can that coupling sit behind the wall? If I pull it in another 1-3/4", it'll be sitting about 2-3/4" behind finished tile.. Thanks!
