shower problem

Hi
I have a problem with my shower

I attached a picture to show you how it is made
I cant get any cool water its just scalding hot
no matter how i turn the back handle its still hot
what could this be?
I took it apart and cleaned the cartridge
it had a bunch of black grease looking stuff but it didnt help
do you think it could be the cartridge?
it turns on and off ok but it the temp just dont change its wide open hot unless you cut the water almost off its bareable hot but the longer its on the hotter it gets
thanks so much
Christopher

THAT IS A MIXET VALVE

YOU DO NOT EVER NEVER CLEAN AND REINSTALL A CARTRIDGE ! !

YOU ALWAYS INSTALL A "BRAND" NEW CARTRIDGE
