Shower pan membrane-install advice

hey everyone,
need some advice, just finished working with a g/c who completed part of my basement renovation. He took me thru framing, electric rough-in and plumbing rough-in. Here's the issue, inspector won't pass plumbing until I install shower pan and he can test it. Fair enough, just not ready to finish this, bathroom was going to be last project.

Here's my question, when I install shower pan membrane will I need to install a barrier between concrete slab and membrane? Does membrane use adhesive to to adhere to the slab?

My DIY book is pretty good but doesnt mention slab as compared to subfloor installation.

Also, very generally, what will an inspector look for in a pan test?

Thanks guys.

Shower pans are critical. Since you mentioned membrane, it sounds like you are using tile for the floor. If so, DIY and you are headed for trouble.
A plumbing contractor is your best bet.
Understanding the physics of lath, mortar, tile and grout is also critical so do your homework before you start.
Contact a local waterproofer who specializes in Hot Mopped Shower Pans, make sure you have the proper shower drain for your application and the waterproofer will install it at the same time as the HMSP. Usually only slightly more than the membrane junk.
Or, go with a fiberglass or plastic shower pan, mortar bed installed.
Both installs are very important and the inspector will shoot you down if not properly installed.

Thanks for advice.
However...don't have the cash to hire a plumber to finish.

Yes, you are correct, it will be tile floor. The drain has already been installed by plumber and the concrete/cement has been poured and sloped correctly. As the shower is a custom size, prefab fiberglass won't work, not looking for that anyway.

Sorry for my ignorance, but is'nt hot mopping old school?, thought most plumbers/tilers had moved to membranes. Not in the budget anyway, I have to do it myself, no getting around it.

I know there are plumbers here, do you think Longtooth is correct and I would be over my head?

Pan liners here have been taken over by the tile folks, even though it is in our code book. Since I don't get into them, I have no details to offer. Sorry
