shower pan

Does anyone know how to pipe up the drain to a shower pan? I bought the Lasco 5' x 3'-6" pan, and I am not sure how the pipe goes up into the pan. There are two rings, one is split, and then a gasket. I am not sure of the functionability of the two rings. Are they just spacers? thanks

There should be directions that came with the pan/drain unit. Usually you have the p-trap then the pipe stubbed up a set distance from the floor (above or below). The pan is placed over the pipe and the gasket and the rings inserted and sometimes gently hammered into place. All the manufacturers, and often the models, have different methods so I wouldn't hazard a guess at your particular one. Try going to the website of the manufacturer or otherwise contacting them for an installation brochure. Someone with experience in these things could figure it out from the pieces, or you could try to reverse engineer it and pray. :D
