I was offering suggestions---However at $50 a gallon for the Hydroban and $$110 for a Schluter drain

Mesh--durrock for the walls--tile and all---

Hopefully I correctly uploaded these pictures. I get that this is a problematic situation, especially considering the budgert constraints and my own ignorance. This is precisely what prompted me to seek help here.

A wider shot of the overall shower would help---

Wider Shots Of The Shower. The Hole in the concrete slab Where The Drain Pipe Was Is approximately 5"-6" as is the "damn" between the bathroom floor and the shower stall.

I would estimate (online) that shower is about fifty years old based on the tile used. I'm thinking $200 to make it work is unreasonably low and at this point I would say if a little more cash doesn't get freed up somehow, you are at this two minutes, circling the drain.

Fair enough (I guess). Too far invested (in sweat equity)to walk away at this point, so stay tuned and I will let you know how it turns out. In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions or ideas, post them.

From what I see the most "cost-effective" way to fix that is to use a KERDI Drain and KERDI Mat in conjunction with a liquid waterproofing product (preferably Hydroban) using the liquid to marry the walls and floor and then applying the liquid and tile about twenty-four inches up the wall.

The rest of the block can be painted with an epoxy paint.

That's my suggestion. About $500 not including labor.
