shower moisture barrier

hi guys,

I was thinking on adding a shower stall. I just had a quick question. I was planning on adding either 6 mil poly to the studs or roofing felt, then cement board 1/2" then kerdi membrane on top of that. Now, would that be considered a double moisture barrier? I know that is a no no since it can trap moisture.

Yes, there is no need to use plastic along with the Kerdi. It could even be bad, although only in the case of something being really wrong. How could moisture get in there?

So, that would be considered a double vapor/moisture barrier?

Well, of course a sheet of plastic and a sheet of Kerdi with space in between would be considered a double moisture barrier. The question is if it would cause any harm. It certainly isn't necessary.

Not a problem. If 2 v.b. with insulation/framing between, then a problem.
