shower floor install

I am installing a 60 x 34 walk in shower floor. Old tub had a right hand drain, the new pan has a center drain. Wondering if a right hand pan would be better as I have room to open the floor for more access where the trap is. Not quite sure how to tie everything together with the center drain, without really tearing up the floor. Hints, tips, and advice appreciated. Vito.

BTW....I'm pretty good with drywall so cutting a hole in the ceiling and working from below is a viable option......I could test for leaks before replacing and patching.

Gentlemen.....thanks for the replies. I won't have to cut any joists...they run parallel with the length of the tub / pan.

I did some looking around in the access hole and found that there is a drain pipe that runs parallel as well and it angles across just enough that the center drain would hit it. I have no choice but to exchange for a right hand drain pan. That settles that.
I will check out Kerdi on the web.

Thanks again. Vito.
