shower fixture replacement question

I am replacing a MOEN shower fixture but am using the old valve. I'd like to order fixtures online, but want to make sure I am getting a compatible unit. It is a single handle fixture and has a plate that screws to the valve with two screws which are about 2 inches long each. The two screwholes are located below the handle at the 5 & 7 o'clock positions. I went to the hardware store today to get some ideas, but saw none that had the same hole configuration. Most I saw had no holes that I could see and a few others had mounting holes 180 degrees apart at roughly the 7 and 1 o'clock positions.

How much of a pain is it going to be to find a replacement fixture and how many options will I have?

thanks

Go where the plumbers go. The old plumbing supply house not the hardware store. They will be able to fix you up. Take cash, most will have min charges.
This trip will be worth your time.

A good plumbing supply should have or be able to get what you're looking for.
If you have the wall open though and the shower body is more than ten years old I'd replace it while you're in there though.

There is no back-side access to the valve, and I don't want to replace the tile, so I'm stuck with the valve. Fortunately it works fine. It seems that it should not be such a big deal to find some replacement fixtures online. Am I mistaken in that belief?

"FIND IT ONLINE"

Moen fixtures are very friendly to repair or so says my plumber.

If you can ID your unit online. Many look alike. A lot of hassle for you if you order wrong and want to return.

Local plumbing supply house: take your parts that you want to replace with you. They might have them or might be able to fix what you have and save you some $.
