shower drain

hello,

when the slab was poured there was no planning for the shower drain( the bottom portion ).

i am slowly chewing my way down through the slab to install the drain so that it is flush with the floor....so i can install the shower membrane.

i am getting periously close to the earth under the slab( approximately 6 inches deep ).

my plan is this, if i break thru to fit the drain.....i will push in morter around the sides of the 'crater' under the drain lip after i glue the drain in....and declare victory

am i dreaming??

Where's the drain going to drain to? Are you installing a 2" pipe and p-trap under the concrete?

shower drain

yes sir, there is a 2" pipe and further down is a p-trap so i am OK there.

I finished last night and instead of using mortar, i used sakrete. the drain( bottom portion where the membrane connects to is perfectly level with the concrete floor of the to-be shower.

If using a 2 part clamping drain and a cpe or pvc liner, you need the floor sloped to the bottom part of the drain, it's called a pre-slope, this is for any moisture that get's through the tile and mortar to the liner and runs down to the weepholes.
