Shower Control

Hi all,

we have two bathrooms and both baths have ONE knob for the water control. how difficult is it to convert a one knob water control to a standard 2 knob control?

From a plumbing stand point the change out is quite straight forward---cut the old mixer out--
sweat in a new one---

The biggest trouble I see is that the wall must be opened up--A hole about 14x 10 minimum--

If you are redoing the baths--easy-----not reworking the baths--forget it.--Mike--

However...... if it's pex or cpvc, and you have easy access to it from behind, it's a relatively simple swap!

Mike summed it up, but I'll add that most double handle valves are not pressure balancing and won't pass inspection. may not matter to you until someone flushes a toilet and you turn red

Plus you would have to cut new holes in your finished walls for the two handles and cover the old single hole.
