Should I Plan to Vent
Hi everybody, new to this forum and looking for a bit of advice. Did a search on subject but can't seem to find a similar situation.
I'm in the planning stages of installing a toilet in the basement laundry room. Before I grab a permit and cut through the concrete floor...i would like to know what I should expect.
house is about 7 years old.
I have a soil drain stack 3inch diam. coming down a nearby wall (about 4 ft away). It comes from a 1st floor toilet and sink, and a garage drain- all seperately vented by a 2inch vent pipe going to attic, then out main roof vent. My basement washer also drains into this stack (with a vent hooked up ). so the dedicated dry vent is not too far away. This soil stack goes horizontal under the slab (I would assume) and should pass in front of my projected toilet somewhere around 3-4ft. I assume the stack is there because I see it on the wall and there is a main 4 inch cap/cleanout access hole in the slab 10feet away. I guess just before where it exits the house towards the city pipe.
Since my projected toilet would be hooking up to this horizontal soil stack at a max run distance of 3-5feet (depending angle I cut floor at).....do I need to run a vent? It really isn't a big deal cutting more cement to run a vent...but why do it if not necessary?
Check local code, 3' os OK, 5' is approaching limits.
