Sharkbites on copper?

We have a hunting cabin (about 30 years old) with a detached laundry room plumbed with 1/2" copper pipe. There is a cold water line sticking out of the wall where I think a water heater used to be. We had record cold temperatures (around zero) recently and this line froze and broke the solder joint causing a small but steady leak. I bought some new end stops to try and cut and redo the joint. For some reason I simply could not get the pipe to fit in the stop, even after deburring and sanding with fine sandpaper. I ended up sticking a shark bite end stop on it. It's not leaking currently, but can I trust it? Thanks.

Should be fine.
Most likely the pipe swelled when it froze.

That's what I was thinking. I tried the shark bite first and it started dripping then shot off like a bullet  but after the sanding it seems alright.
