Shallow well pump suddenly takes very long to pump up

I had already typed this post in a long and detailed version, but I lost that version before I was able to post it. If you have any questions regarding the details of this situation, please feel free to ask.

I have encountered a situation where a water pump neglected to cut in when the pressure dropped off. After getting the pump running again, now the pump takes at least 5 to 10 minutes, maybe longer, to cut in at 15 lbs. and cut out at 50 lbs. I don't know if both problems started at the same time or not. Can anyone tell me what might be causing the pump so long to pump up? Thank you for any help you can offer!

Knowing what you did when it would not start the first time might help, but assuming that it was not initially set at a 35 pound differntial, I would start with the pressure switch. If not that, you probably should post some more details on your pump and tank.

When the pump builds up pressure does your pressure bleed off without using any water?
If that is the case you might want to take a look at your foot valve.
