Sewer Lateral replacement
The sewer lateral inspection on our new home showed the cast iron pipe under the house had to be replaced. That was done and we have the invoice of the work, when we do our final walk through, is there anything we should look for? I've heard that jacking out the basement can cause problems to the walls and it's an 82 year old house, so it has plaster walls.

They shouldn't have had to move your 82-year-old house at all to replace the sewer line.
The only thing that you need to look for is that it meets all local codes and the inspector is happy, and it is functioning well.
Good Luck!

I know they didn't have to move the house... a friend of ours that had to have the same pipe replaced under their house said they had to use a jack hammer to get through the basement floor to replace parts...they said the force of the jack hammer damaged some of their walls.
